The organization was created in part because of one tournament in Oregon. Confident that they would do well in this out of state tournament they selected some of the top players in the area to go along. During the tournament there became a realization that the players had not had the proper training to compete at that level. Therefore they set out to create a situation where the best players could get the opportunity to develop their skills to compete at a high level.

They used city and school fields for the first couple years, but decided they needed their own field in order to further develop the organization. Owning their own fields eliminated scheduling conflicts with other sports, eliminated rental fees, and helped Storm King Soccer establish their name within the area. In 1996, they leased land from the Angnew Helpful Neighbors club and developed it into one of the better fields in the area.
